Populism & Queerness are two political directions that impact the South American contexts. These spaces are embodied and inhabited by the artist duo Río Paraná.
From these experiences, both concepts and practices are reformulated, intervened, recreated, and re-invented in the performance and text work “Populismo Cuir”.
The artists use their collective reformulations to intervene the streets and art institutions. In their own words, they “create social fictions on the limits of popular art, political activism and utopian imagination.”
“Populismo Cuir” was previously presented in MACBA Barcelona and Portikus Frankfurt.
Duen and Mag work together since 2016.

Río Paraná
Río Paraná are Duen Sacchi y Mag De Santo, trans visual artists, performers, writers, researchers and occasional curators. Their works develop through utopian imagination and social fictions, focusing on sexual dissidences and anticolonial thinking. Their artistic languages comprise archival research, texts, performance, video, murals and installations.
