For years, I believed creativity was something to return to “later” — when it was safe, acceptable, or earned. I was told art wasn’t a real path, that it lacked status or stability. And so I waited. It wasn’t until the age of 47 that I found the courage to listen to the voice I had silenced, and to begin again.
Each piece in this showing is part of that beginning — a reclaiming, a resistance to the idea that it’s ever too late to follow what is true. Rooted in craft, sustenance, and care, the work celebrates the quiet power of starting, the strength in transformation, and the abundance we create when we follow what calls us.
Batik workshop invites participants to experience this process for themselves — to explore wax and color while reflecting on what they may wish to begin, restart, or reclaim in their own lives. It is an invitation to slow down, to listen, and to give form to what has been waiting.
