Note from artist:
“Thank you Les Complices* for giving me the space to exhibit this work.” Titilayo Adebayo (they/she/layo)
SPACE WALK is a piece where the audience is invited to come to the space. SCAN the QR quote for the audio. The exhibition starts with the paintings and installations on the left. The video and object on the right. Then to continue listening to the audio whether it's for the rest of your journey, taking a walk, sitting outdoors or lounging at home… whatever feels fitting. You’re invited to enjoy the factor of chance and randomness.
After: if you like to continue to contribute to the performance of the exhibition. You can document what your thoughts and experiences are then send it to the artist directly or even just to yourself.
SPACE WALK
Inspired by the elusive sounds of slowed down and composed Brian Eno, Talking Heads and the Dadaist poem 'Gadji beri bimba' (Hugo Ball) the journey begins by visiting the gallery to find the QR code and window installation. On the door of Les Complices*, as if being invited to join the artist down a rabbit hole, the code provides the soundscore for you to listen to via headphones or earphones.
The soundscore is a compilation of music, intimate voice recordings, Berlin's: Alexander Platz station and poems. Inspired by John Cage's philosophy on silence and contemporary ambient music and the Dadaist approach to making art. The soundscore invites the listener to continue listening to the soundscore until the end after leaving the space.
Duration: 35mins
To the left of the door “PAINTINGS” - a collage of childhood healing processes. The golden ration and EGO as focal points. A mannequin head with an incense stick jabbed through the top of the head. And of course a face mask.
To the right, “THE VIDEO FILES AND THE CORPSES”
The Corpses (inspired by the work of Kandis Williams) are plants. But dead. But still holding on for dear life. Animated with joy and hope, they still died.
The Video files:
