What does it mean for a revolution to define itself through a collective yearning for life, dignity, and the reclamation of meaning, upheld together without retreat? Where does a revolution go when it is no longer in the streets? Who lives the afterlife of a revolution? Who carries its weight on their shoulders? What does it mean for a revolution to be feminist? Why is feminist political thought destined to fail if it does not embody anti-colonial, anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist, anti-racist, and anti-ableist principles?
On the anniversary of the Jina Revolution of 2022, we gather to reflect on these questions and more, drawing inspiration from anonymous writings by those rebelling from ethnically marginalised regions of Iran, mostly written during the 2022 Jina Uprising in Iran and beyond. Alongside these writings, we will watch short films in a collective session, coming together to appreciate a feminist revolution. We will reflect on statements about deserving life, claiming voice and hope, and pursuing anti-colonial and anti-imperialist solidarity across borders.
