Komplizine #4

Dear friends,

It’s been a year since we inherited this special space. We feel all kinds of butterflies revolving in our young stomach-bodies, all kinds of practices and emotions that we are still trying to digest in a moment where we want to take the time and imagine other ways of being with you.

In this moment of atrocities, failing systems, frightening shifts in society and multiple crises, we feel the wish to find our sustainable way to fight for ourselves and each other. A less exhausting and extracting way as cultural practitioners. A generative and generous way with a community-oriented mindset. We aim to offer ourselves as much as our collaborators, an alternative to the overwhelmed & overworked product driven culture by focusing on slow, thoughtful and reflective processes and practices. Not that we are experts on being slow! We do not always succeed, but we intentionally try.

These conditions led us to Love, the feeling, the concept, the prompt that came into being this year. We started to look into our relations and our positioning in Zurich. What kinds of relationships are possible while being vulnerable and angry, joyful and hurt, sensual and harsh, tender or generous together, becomes a common language? What happens when we start imagining life and Love outside of the human experience? Love as something that is as damaging as it is generative. Or simultaneously cheesy and potentially murdering like a love letter written to a lover of the same sex in a place that does not make space for you? Love that is the flavour of the dishes that we have made space for in Les Complices* on Food Tuesdays.

We hope that the love language compiled in Komplizine #4 move your tears, spirits and internal biota. We thank Jonathan Lorand for the legacy of wishes and Larissa Tiki Mbassi for hosting a room of love letters, both which inspired the making of this fanzine. We also wanna thank the people who created and took part in the screenings, performances, dinners, exhibition, readings, discussions and other activities hosted since last summer in LC*.

Les Complices* is a space to imagine diverse ways of being. A chosen space. A space to acknowledge (y)our own ignorance, shortcomings and limitations by embracing the unknown.

We thank you for your support, friends.

Sincerely,

tracy and Paloma
