Chapter ZER.0 is a non-binary manifesto as part of Kamran Behrouz's artistic research “Cosmopolitics of the body". The main theoretical discourse of the work turns around the colonial history of coding and algorithms as well as the binary language of science and continental philosophy. Behrouz infuses queer identity in their art to draw a cartography of belonging and displacement. The video installation features animations that are translated into animated 3D-Avatars by means of recording the artist's own body movements using Motion Capturing. The resulting virtual performances of various avatars raise questions about the role of virtual representation in queer feminist activism and art.
Programm:

Kamran Behrouz (*1984) is a non-binary visual artist born and raised in Tehran, currently working and living in Zurich. Behrouz works with different media, combining the act of painting with animation, installations, motion capture and (virtual) performance. Politics of the image are at the center of these visual practices, which are transformed into cultural translations and codifications in the theoretical works.
